[What is GRS?] The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary product standard designed to track and verify the recycled material content in end products. This standard applies to the entire supply chain, covering traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical composition, and labeling. The GRS encompasses the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading, and distribution of all products made with at least 20% recycled materials. It also sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.
The standard enables companies to verify the recycled content of their products, as well as the responsible social, environmental, and chemical practices employed in their production. Although owned by Textile Exchange, the GRS is not limited to textiles—it applies to any product containing recycled materials, including recycled plastic packaging.
The intended impact of the GRS is to provide brands with a more accurate labeling tool, encourage innovation in the use of recycled materials, enhance supply chain transparency, and offer consumers better information.
The goal of the GRS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products while reducing or eliminating the harmful impacts of their production.
As a key player in the plastic packaging industry, Chengde Technology Co., Ltd. has obtained GRS certification, ensuring the use of authentic and traceable recycled materials in its products. This certification aligns with international environmental regulations, meets brand owners' green procurement requirements, supports customers in achieving carbon neutrality and ESG goals, and enhances the green competitiveness of their products.
